Standards Management and Protection Consumer of the Kingdom of Bahrain

Standards and Metrology Directorate was officially established in June 1988 under provision of Legislative Decree No. 16 of 1985 with respect to Specifications, Standards and Metrology. The Decree has stipulated for creation of a national body for standards and metrology as well as a National Committee for Standards and Metrology entrusted with chartering the general policy for Standards and Metrology.
The Directorate undertakes approval and publishing of national standards and specifications and national technical regulations to comply with the requirements for quality, performance or safety of products and services in addition to environment protection. The tasks of the Directorate extend to cover the activities complementary to the specifications, such as quality, measurement, calibration and provision of information in the aforementioned fields.
